This semester's book is called Surprised by Hope.
It's author is Tom Wright, quite possibly the most well known biblical scholar in the English speaking world.
If you go onto You Tube or Google you'll find masses of video and written material featuring him.
Here's a bit about Surprised by Hope from the publisher's blurb:
...He provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus
and shows how this became the cornerstone for the Christian community's hope in the bodily resurrection of all
people at the end of the age. Wright then explores our expectation of new heavens and a new earth, revealing
what happens to the dead until then and what will happen with the second coming of Jesus. For many, including
many Christians, all this will come as a great surprise.
We'll look to run the Book Club on Wed mornings, 10.15, starting about 25 Feb.
But I'm open to repeating during an evening if there is sufficient interest.
You can purchase a copy through
www.fishpond.co.nz paperback for $40, hardback $46.
Let me know if you're interested...Paul
